iMessage Check in not loading

iMessage Check In doesn’t seem to load. For both myself and the person I’m trying to send this too, the same behaviour happens. This loading screen will just keep spinning, nothing happens.

Any ideas outside of the usual turning off and back on, resetting location services etc - thanks!
