iMessages works via my email address but not my phone number, but how can i tell if a new phone number will work or I need a whole new device?

Is this the same Apple ID used to sign into this website?
The number that appears comes from your SIM card. A carrier can blacklist a device if it has been reported stolen and then no number will work. Not sure if you currently have cellular service with your number.
Thank you. Either my phone number or phone (or both) was banned by Apple. SMS messages work for the most part through my carrier, but I’m wondering if I change phone numbers using this Apple ID will my iMessages work again or do I need a whole new phone with a whole new Apple ID?
Most of cellphone carriers they block the SMS that’s why iMessage isn’t activating your phone number , you must contact then and request to unblock your SMS then iMessage and FaceTime will be activate with your phone number
iMessage will not work with my old phone number, but does work with my Apple ID email address
