removing facetime option from contact

Some of my contacts have the camera icon (facetime) and I don't want to use facetime except with one or two. I see this was a common problem several years ago and I have tried the remedies listed on the forum then with no positive results. I don't use favorites, these are in the regular contacts list. I am using an iPhone SE with ios 17.4.1. I don't know how this happened; yesterday the facetime icon did not show, today most contacts have the facetime icon! Does anyone know of an easy way to remove the facetime icon from an individual contact? Thanks.
