All was fine until I messed with widgets. Now when I open Safari it occupies about 3/4 of the screen size. I have searched for resetting default size and tried the "open last saved screen" option from History after enlarging screen but it does not work. When reopening Safari I keep getting the 3/4 screen size.

OK Problem solved though I don't know what caused it in the first place.
Turns out that adjusting screen size, closing, then reopening last closed window Does work if you close it from the menu rather than the red button.
Like I said the biggest issue I have is the nomenclatur but give me a break. I'm a lot older than computers are.
All's well that ends well though.

Quit Safari, when you relaunch it hold the Option key down and compare your results...
You can put Safari in Full Screen mode...

well it is the first I ever heard the issue...
Holding the Option key down will allow for the "Zoom" option, is the only work around I can offer.
This is the full screen real estate but not "Full Screen Mode"

I am aware I can switch to full screen mode after opening, much as I can resize the screen by dragging the corner.
I am wanting Safari to open, occupying the whole screen (rather than "full screen") when first opening, as in fact it was doing before.
Default open to "full screen" would be an improvement on the current situation though.
All I know is that something has changed and I have to resize the screen every time I open Safari.

I have already removed the widgets I put there. Just clock and calendar.
Biggest part of the problem is I'm totally unfamiliar with the terminology.
Started playing with stuff I'd have been better to leave alone after watching a Youtube video.
I seem to recall something about a "sidebar' or something similar.
I suspect it's something I've changed in settings somewhere, without understanding what I'm doing.
Best I can describe it is;
When Safari opens, the top, bottom and right side of screen are as they should be but there is a gap of 1-2 inches on the left side with the Home Screen "wallpaper" showing with a few software shortcut icons that I put there showing.
It's not a big issue. More just a PITA having to resize the window every time I open Safari.
Is there something like what Windows used to have where I can revert to a previous date?
