I have grey lines at the bottom of my screen they get thinner and disappear as they get higher on the screen these were flashing but I completed all the advice on resetting graphic card and reinstalling OS
It has stopped flashing however feint lines remain does anyone have a definitive on what the problem is
I have installed HOT but it is not due to overheating as normally sits at around 40 -45c

I can't find it, possibly got removed, yes it's a HW issue$650 to $800 to fix if past warranty coverage.
Schedule an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP.

You can look on these forums, I have seen about 200 posts, how many machines that translates into I have no idea. However even if it is 500-1000 machines world wide (these are international forums) that is a VERY small number and doesn't warrant any type of recall.
If you did not purchase AppleCare then you made a choice to self insure and unfortunately this time your number came up. I know that is no consolation especially when you have to pay for a repair, however this is why AppleCare should be seriously considered at the time of purchase especially on expensive devices. Just something to consider.

Can you please provide links to these incidents? I think it's a hardware issue and Apple should provide service plan to recall the screen of 24' iMac
