iCloud iMessages come in VERY delayed on Mac

I have tried finding articles/community questions on this and all of them talk about iMessage coming in delayed on the Mac when their iPhone gets them on time. I don't use a phone so I just text on my Mac and I just use an iCloud. It's not a phone number. But sometimes I get my messages from my contacts hours later. Like they all suddenly appear at one point. And just now, I got a message that said it was from "Yesterday" but I just barely got it. Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix it?
