This started after IOS10.4 install on the watch and IOS 17.4.1 install on my phone. The watch doesn’t last for more than 3hours. Previously good for a day and a half if no GPS use, but at least a day after using the GPS for an hour or so.
You should submit feedback to Apple, in this case: Product Feedback - Apple.
In the meantime, I recommend turning on Low Power Mode as a short-term solution.

I have switched both on and off multiple times and unpaired and paired them a couple of times as well.
I thought maybe it is an issue with the battery on my watch but a friend who just (like last week) got a new Ultra 2 is having the same issue. Which is why I suspect it is a software glitch.
