Moving selected rows of data

In Numbers can I

Select several contiguous (or not contiguous) rows (i.e. rows 4,5,6,8)

Move this block of rows up or down (Up to become rows 2,3,4,6, or Down to become rows 165,166,167,169)

without having to scroll..., and scroll... and scroll... on my touch pad?

I don't know what you can do on a "touch pad". On a Mac you can lift, drag and drop a contiguous range of rows but you cannot do the same for disconnected rows. For disconnected rows, the closest thing I know of is to do this (but it only works well for data, not formulas):

  1. Select the rows you want to move
  2. Cut (Command X)
  3. Select the same "distance" of rows somewhere else in the table. For example if you had selected rows 2 and 5 to be moved, you need to select four rows (corresponding to rows 2,3,4,5) at the new location.
  4. Add rows above or below if there is not blank space for the rows you want to place here
  5. Paste
  6. The old rows will be empty but you may want to delete them. You will have empty rows in the new location you may wish to delete. Formulas will not be the same as if the rows had been drag/dropped
