Excel AutoRecovery not working, lost files

I had been working in an OneDrive excel file along with a coworker on Thursday, I went to exit it today with auto save on. It told me it was unable to merge the files, I attempted to save a copy which did not work. It kept prompting me to save copy or discard, after clicking save multiple times, my only recourse was to hit discard. I have checked my local temp files and nothing is there. I work in excel sheets all the time and only 4 temp files are located in there? How do I get all excel files to save a temp/autorecover file in there? I am looking in /Users/<user>/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.excel/data/library/applciation support/microsoft
