Getting Into a Mac:

  • Boot in Safe Mode:

In Safe ModeLogin Items do not run at login, certain preferences are set aside, and damaged system files are then reset. So, once booted in to Safe Mode, wait 30 seconds, and then boot up normally, attempting another login. For instructions, go here: How to Use safe Mode on your Mac - Apple Support

  • Use an External Keyboard:

Try logging in using an external keyboard. Doing so, you may be able to enter the password correctly. If you do not have the proper connectors to match the ports on your Mac, you'd need to use an adapter. This is typically the one to use, if you only have USB0S ports: USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

  • Reset the Mac Password:

A. Where to Reset it:

Reset it using the login screen. You'd go through your Apple ID to perform this. Find out more here: If you Forgot your Mac Login Password - Apple Support. Make sure that caps lock is not enabled when typing it.

B. Troubleshooting the Reset:

Go here, if having issues: If you can't Reset your Mac Login Password - Apple Support
