MacBook Pro 2021 Logic board burnt down

Hello all. My MacBook Pro somehow burned down out of the blue (it just powered off and I heard some noise while smelling something was burnt. There was no water spilled or any physical damage. Other than the charger felt warm.

Took it to the shop today and the quote is about $700 USD to replace the logic board and the touchID.

Has anyone had similar issues of this?

Is it worth replacing the logic board and touchID?

Any experience / tips would be appreciated

Consumer Reports magazine, when discussing Appliances, says that when the cost to repair exceeds Half the cost of new, you should replace instead.

Computers are changing far faster than washing machines, and if you do not edit Videos daily, a MacBook Air with at least 16 GB RAM should be on your consideration list as well.

TouchID has been discontinued, but similar touch features are available by connecting your iPad.

I believe that all current Mac notebooks have Touch ID. That means that there's a spot on the keyboard which can read your fingerprint for authentication purposes.

It's the Touch Bar – a small touch screen that replaced standard function keys (and sometimes, the ESC key) that has gone away. The last Macs to have it were the now-discontinued 13" M1 and M2 MacBook Pros.
