Can’t Connect to Carplay

I’ve been having trouble connecting my iPhone 12 to CarPlay. I’ve been using CarPlay with my 2016 VW Jetta for about six months now, but for the past month the connection has been spotty. Today I haven’t been able to connect at all. In the CarPlay settings on my phone it lists my car as connected, but on my car it does not list my phone. When I can get it to attempt to connect, it either says ‘Connection cancelled’ or ‘Check if your phone is unlocked’ despite my phone both being unlocked and having CarPlay when locked turned on. I’ve used two cables but only have one USB port. I’ve already restarted both my phone and my car and it hasn’t solved the issue, and I’ve also removed and attempted to reconnect my car from CarPlay. CarPlay is completely enabled under screen time as well. Let me know if you have any solutions or need more information.
