Can't print double sided on HP 9120e

Just installed a new HP 9120e printer to use with my MacBook M3 Pro running Sonoma 14.4.1. I know it can print double sided because it works when I use the HP Smart app. However, when I try to print directly from Word or Pages I do not have the option to print double sided. I'm using this for work and it won't be efficient to try to print through the app instead of directly from Word.

I've seen from other questions that there's sometimes a print 2-sided option that needs to be selected. But to be clear I do not see that option.

Thanks for any help.

Got support from HP on this (via WhatsApp - takes a while but works): remove the printer (and fax); reboot mac; and then re-add the printer. Fixed it for me :)

if you installed that Printer as a "driverless" AirPrint Printer, you do not also get the benefit of printer-specific features such as automatic duplexing.

If you create an other Printer instance that uses the manufacturer's Driver instead, the additional printer-driver-specific features will become available using that Printer instance, through the Printer driver.
