Apple Pencil won't draw curved lines on iPad Pro using Procreate

I’m new to Procreate and everything is going well as I learn, HOWEVER, my Apple Pencil 2nd Gen only draws straight lines. I’ve tried adjusting the settings. No go. If I draw round shapes very slowly, careful not to go too fast, I can draw a circle. But I can’t use the pencils to actually draw anything; what’s the point if they only move in a straight line?

what am I missing? It’s prob something a 5yo could fix.
