Unable To Verify App with MacBook M1 and iPad

Using a MacBook Pro M1, there seems to be an issue when trying to run an XCode iOS app on my iPad.

The iPad (12.9 inch, 5th generation) refuses to verify the app saying:

Unable to Verify App

An internet connection is required to verify trust of developer "Apple Development: ...".

This app will not be available until verified

even though the device is trusted and internet connection is available.

This seems to be an issue with M1 to iPad specifically, as the application successfully runs on other iOS devices
