Time to improve text to speech

In the age of AI I would think the creators of Siri could make a decent text to speech capacity. No matter what voice one chooses it reads like an automaton and text selection is not that easy at least on my iPad.

Blissfully, for a while, there was a decent app that I could send an article to and it read it with almost human inflection. However, monetization made the app (Speechify) dysfunctional and made forwarding articles (TheAtlantic) impossible.

As my vision worsened (I realize my complaint is specific but there’s still no reason to have this capability remain soooo…primitive.

Oh well. I’ll continue to muddle along. Podcasts are a poor substitute for well written articles.
