USB C vs USB

My 4 year old iMac crashed. Had to buy a new iMac. As I am unboxing, it does not have USB ports, it has USB C ports. Nothing I have works. Solutions?

There are a lot of ways to connect USB-A devices to USB-C ports. These include:

Adapters that take up one USB-C port, and give you one USB-A port

USB-C to USB Adapter - Apple

Amazon Basics USB-C to USB-A 3.1 Gen1 Female Adapter Cable Converter

Any number of inline plug adapters, which often sell for about $10 for a 2-pack or 3-pack on Amazon

Simple USB-A hubs that have four or more USB-A ports and that plug into a USB-C port. Look for one that comes with its own power supply.

USB-C and Thunderbolt hubs and docks that give you multiple types of things, such as USB-A ports, card readers, places to plug in a display, and/or the ability to charge a laptop with "pass-through power".

Amazon, Best Buy, and office supply stores are places that you can look for the more basic adapters and USB-C hubs/docks. If you're looking for a higher-end Thunderbolt dock or hub then some vendors to consider might be Other World Computing, SonnetTech, and CalDigit.
