Gone from all my devices in Italy too.
I’m used to this, I mean about ‘the disappearance’, but usually I always found the way to get the widget back. No this time though…
Rumor has it that Apple has ceased supporting the widget given the imminent release of the news app also in those countries where it wasn’t previously released, like majority of Europe.
Let’s see what kind of new trickery has Tim come up with in order to grab our money.
I’m honestly fed up with Apple.
Disappeared for me too in Ireland. Searched widgets and not to be found… phones been running 17.4.1 for a week or two…
News widget gone for me as well. Hyderabad, India
The news widget on my iPhone has suddenly disappeared(2 days ago). Is this an issue or normal? Italy 🇮🇹
Looks like it has disappeared worldwide. Some people speculate there will be a change regarding this news app / widget at the upcoming Apple iPad event “let loose” on 7 May.
Same here. Located in the Netherlands. News widget is gone since a couple of days.
running iOS 17.4.1 on iPhone Pro Max 15.
My news widget gone since earlier this week - I’m in Ireland.
…really don’t like using Google News widget. Please resolve Apple Support!
I realize just today that it also disappears (Germany) but I guess it is nothing to do with iOS update. Since I use 17.1 though … any way wanna know the solution too
anche a me (Italy) sia iPhone che iPad 17.4.1 news scomparse
It's not always the iOS update's fault! Many things can cause phone problems. If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.
Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.
Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.
Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.

same here , region india. Was enjoying the apple news widget both on homescreen as well as the lockscreen however disappeared since updating to 17.4.1. Also important to mention i dont remember accepting this upgrade. Very sneaky apple.
Same. From India, woke up today and didn’t have the widget on my phone… this is genuinely confusing and not appreciated…
Hoping they fix it post event, but if this is intentional, then I can’t think to call this anything else than a malicious action.
REAALLY surprised to not see any apple official statements / warnings / notices on this…
Spoke to Apple support, apparently the news app has been discontinued. The two people I spoke to weren’t even aware this was the case until they enquired further up the ladder.
So there was no announcement at all.
It appears the support staff have not even been made aware it has been discontinued.
Nice one Apple.
I’m in India. I lost the Apple News widget in mu iPad post updating to 17.4.1
since i still have it on my iPhone, I’m certainly NOT updating to any new version for now!
I miss checking out the news every half hour or so🤨
Bring it back Tim!!
I have figured out that Apple has no support. This discussions is not run by Apple technical advisers. Its just run by us trying to help each other because Apple won’t help us. Even though we spend $1000s of dollars on their devices. When it comes to helping us with support they make it so hard to contact them. Apple support is absolute rubbish, and this is a perfect example. We are on our own
