I am a multitasker. I use four monitors. My smallest is 27". Even with all the space, I find it extremely irritating that I can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the right side panel when I am in day view. It is a waste of space.
Does anyone know how to get rid of it or am I stuck with this view forever?

I've never found a switch to turn this panel on or off so yes, I would say you can't close it.
You could send some feedback to Apple about this here, specifying you are using Calendar on a Mac.
