Have to type it in the search screen and app opens. How do I put it back on my screen?

You might want to search the iPhone App Library for the app that is no longer on the Home Screen. See: Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says: "From your Home Screen, swipe left until you see the App Library.

Your apps are automatically sorted into categories."

If needed: Tap the search field, then enter the app that you're looking for.

If you find the app in the Library, you can add the icon back to the Home Screen.

For how to move an app from a folder to the Home Screen.

See: Organize your apps in folders on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Move an app from a folder to the Home Screen

You can move an app from a folder to the Home Screen to make it easier to locate and open.

✽ Go to the Home Screen page with the folder that contains the app,

✽ then tap the folder to open it.

✽ Touch and hold the app until the apps begin to jiggle.

✽ Drag the app from the folder to the Home Screen".

All the best :-)
