How to delete duplicate contact cards

I have an iPhone 11 Pro Max with iOS 17.4.1. I have two contact lists, and each has many duplicate cards, and many of the duplications involve more than two cards. Neither of the lists shows a duplicate found button. Is there a way I can repair the contacts program?

Thanks for your reply. I have read the article. The buttons that the article refers to for removal of all duplicate cards on a single contacts list do not appear. The buttons to use do appear on individual cards, but the vast number of duplicates makes this alternative impractical to use. Thanks again.
