Wrong Icon shows up in Safari Favorites page. A big "F" shows up instead of Google Icon.

When I add Google to the Favorites page in safari, the wrong Icon is displayed. Instead of GOOGLE a big "F" is the entire Icon. When I click on the icon, it goes to Google, but it is not a good experience. One should see at least a G or the Google G, not a (maybe) Facebook "F".

The sgnaswer provided above works. I just wanted to say Thanks for the answer by starting this thread again.

They said Safari shows incorrect icons for bookmarks

How can I stop safari from using an incorrect icon for my bookmarks?

Several bookmarks suddenly had an airplane icon instead of website’s icon. The Google bookmark suddenly had an airplane instead of the colorful G.

I did find a tedious fix in this blog, but it must be done for each altered bookmark.

  1. open bookmarks, click Edit, click the bookmark, change “www.google.com” to “google.com”
  2. if your bookmark originally is “google.com” then change it to “www.google.com”

THIS WORKS!

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 10.15
