It may be a temporary issue from the Apple servers.

Nevertheless, try using Apple TV+ on another device to see if the TV show plays correctly. If you have an Apple TV box, unplug it, wait 30 seconds and replug it. Finally, unplug the Wi-Fi routeur and cable box (both if they are not the same), wait 1 minute and replug them.

Have you tried to unplug both the Wi-Fi routeur and cable box ? Sometimes those devices can get confused and work on some devices and not others.

I would suggest to erase the Apple TV device and reconfigure it. But before you do so, please contact Apple Support because the total procedure takes about an hour (I recently had to do it because my Apple TV+ subscription would not be recognized after a tvOS update.)

Any issues with playing another episode of Sugar or playing an episode from another TV show on Apple TV+? Is the episode playing correctly today?

Me too! I can play other episodes of Sugar, and get into the recap prior to the current episode, then it goes black and give the message there was a problem playing this video, "check internet"

No, that I can do. I just can't play Sugar episode 6.
