iPhone 14 Pro Max submerged in water for several days; now is soaking wet inside. How to dry?
My iPhone 14 Pro Max recently spent four days under water (my basement flooded while I was out of town, and I had left the phone at floor level, which was submerged). Making matters worse, the SIM tray was not inserted (this iPhone 14 Pro Max was bought in the UK, so it had a SIM tray), so the SIM port was open, and the entire interior of the phone got soaked.
I've read all the support articles about what to do if your iPhone gets "damp" or gets a splash of water or even gets submerged for a minute or two -- but none of those recommendations address what to do if the phone gets absolutely soaked inside and out for several days.
It's so bad that water is visible inside the camera lenses, sloshing around when the phone is moved.
Needless to say, I have not attempted to charge it or turn it on since it got wet, so I don't even know if it works anymore.
I saw one article that recommended leaving the phone in a sealed container with silica gel beads, but I think even that might not be extreme enough to fix this huge amount of interior wetness.
Besides the standard "wipe with a dry cloth, gently tap out any water from the charging port, leave in a well-ventilated area until dry" advice: Any recommendations?
