Selecting letter size paper from iPhone or tablet to Brother (printer)

We have a Brother (printer) model MFC-L2700DW and used to be able to select letter size paper as an option when printing. The only option for printing from an iPhone or iPad now is legal size paper. Brother (printer) has been contacted two times and they claim it is an Apple problem. Any help would be appreciated.
