Apple TV boxes are streaming devices, they are not an old fashion DVR from 2001. That being said, some apps such as Hulu Live have the ability to record content on their on-line storage. This means the storage is NOT on the Apple TV it is on the Internet, meaning it's cloud storage.

A streaming device means for the most part there is ZERO reason to record as you can watch content just about any time you want to. With streaming you don't really need to record TV like the old days. If you want to watch something like your local news then download an app from the Apple TVs App Store that allows you to do that and find your local station and watch the news when you want.
