Why my iPhone isn't charging with USB-C cable after liquid exposure

I think my phone had some liquid go into the charging port (someone bumped into me with drink), so there was a notification about liquid. I left it to dry and then charge, where my old usb cable does fine just slowly, but my usb-c cable doesn’t at all. is there any reason for this

Leave your iPhone in a dry area with some airflow. After at least 30 minutes, try charging using a Lightning or USB-C cable or connecting an accessory. If you see the alert again, there is still liquid in the connector or under the pins of your cable. Leave your iPhone in a dry place with some airflow for up to a day.
