continuity in Photo Booth and face time isn't working on my iPhone 14 Pro Max

Hello,

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max that's running Sonoma 17.4.1 and a MacBook Pro 2015 running 14.4.1.

I'm trying to use my iPhone as a camera and microphone for my laptop. When I flood the steps:

  1. Connect using usb or wifi / booth tooth. Check.
  2. select iphone as the camera I want to use in photo boot and FaceTime. Check.
  3. Lock phone and turn in landscape. Check.
  4. Have iPhone near MacBook if using wifi/ bootooth. Check.
  5. made sure continuity was selected in settings. Check.

When I do al these things my iPhone recognizes the MacBook and I get a screen with 'pause' or 'disconnect' button. The screen goes black in both apps. I can't see my camera footage on my MacBook. There's a green dot on the upper left hand corner of FaceTime to show the camera is connected.

Please help.
