Unable to receive notifications on Apple Watch

Just unboxed a brand new Apple Watch series 9 today, have set it up. Cannot figure out why I’m not getting any notifications??? Only incoming phone calls??? No messages, messenger or WhatsApp. Have toggled everything on and toggled mirror from phone. Not on silent, not on focus. Help!
