iPad 10 256 no cellular option.

I just got an iPad 10 bc all of apples literature states that the 10th gen’s come with cellular capabilities. Mine does not have the cellular switcher in the tray. Is this because I don’t have a sim yet? Shouldn’t the option to turn on cellular still be available? I don’t intend to use it but just need the gps capabilities.

All models of iPad are available in two versions - WiFi+Cellular and WiFi Only. Perhaps you have unintentionally purchased the WiFi Only (cheaper) model?

WiFi Only iPads have no cellular hardware at all - don't have a physical SIM tray - and have no GNSS/GPS capabilities as this functionality is an integral (but independent) element of the Cellular chipset.

Recent WiFi+Cellular models have both a physical SIM tray - and a built-in eSIM that can be enabled directly from iPad settings.
