Coffee spill on my MacBook Air

A large cup of coffee tipped over onto my MacBook Air and spilled directly onto the keyboard. I am immediately turned it upside down and used a small bottle of compressed air to push out as much liquid as I could. I shut the computer off and within the next 30 minutes I had it at a local computer technician. He said the device should be fine since he’s going to completely take it apart and clean it. I am just stressing because I’ve been reading on the long-term effects of liquid damage to MacBooks and I’m just wondering if I should just go ahead and purchase a new one? In order to prevent any future crashing or loss of data.
