HomePod mini Touch Surface Problem

The touch surface of my HomePod mini, used as stereo pair and set as default speakers for my apple tv, suddenly stopped working properly. I cannot tap to play/pause nor adjust the volume. What’s worse is that any media I am currently playing just pauses and resumes randomly. Did resetting both via the home app and Mac but to no avail. Then I have this idea of turning on voice assistant so that i can hear what the HomePod is doing when I am playing a media. The video attached shows HomePod saying play and pause continuously. It is as if the homePod thinks it is being pressed when in reality no one is pressing it.
