I’m running a new sound system, purchased a new movie on Apple TV and see that Apple TV is not available on Xumo. Only “Apple TV + “. Any work around? Would like to listen to the movie on surround instead of streaming to the tv speakers. Seems ridiculous that Apple has 2 different streaming platforms.

The workaround is … to get a TV or external streaming device that supports the full Apple TV app. That can be an Apple TV box, Roku, Fire TV, PlayStation (4, 5), Xbox (One, One S, X, S), ‘Chromecast with Google TV’-dongle, or Nvidia Shield TV box.
Seems ridiculous that Apple has 2 different streaming platforms.
It seems that Apple saw reason to create two editions of their streaming app, with slightly different functionality.
- The specialized Apple TV+ app has Apple TV+, MLS, and FNB only.
- The full Apple TV app has additionally iTunes Store movies, and select third party streaming services.
Which device gets which edition, that is up to agreements with the device manufacturer, unfortunately not user choice.
