How do I stop iPhone 15 pro camera from blurring the background when I’m on regular photo setting

I have a new iPhone 15 pro and I am hating it because the camera wants to blur out the background on all the photos. I am NOT on portrait mode. I don’t constantly want a blurred background! I just want to take regular photos. It often focuses on whichever child is closest to me and then blurs my other children out. And with kids, I get one chance to capture a photo. I don’t have time to try to get the camera to focus on everyone. PLEASE tell me there is a way to fix this and make it stop blurring everything!!

While iPhone cameras are fantastic, they typically capture focus at one distance at a time. This means that in a single photo, it can be challenging to have both a close-up subject and a faraway background perfectly sharp.

Here's a more detailed explanation:

  • Depth of Field: The area in focus within a photo is called the depth of field. In iPhone photography, this depth is generally shallower, meaning a smaller range of distances will appear crisp.
  • Focus Point: When you tap to focus on your iPhone camera, it sets the lens to capture details at that specific distance.
  • Background Blur: Because of the shallow depth of field, elements closer or farther than the focus point will appear progressively blurrier. This background blur can be aesthetically pleasing, but it can also make it difficult to have both a sharp subject and background in the same image.
