Why cannot I not sign in to iTunes on my Mac

After plugging my ipad into my computer, I was asked to sign int to iTunes. I tried using the password that I have for my iphone and ipad but it did not work. So I made a new password for the computer.

This has made no difference and the new password does not work on the Mac.
