Classic 60 IPod button barely is pressing

I’ve had my classic 60 since 2005 with no problem. Now when I press the center button it barely gives and I have to press 2 or 3 times to get it to respond. Can this be fixed without prying the unit apart? Could I trust a regular electronics repair shop to do it for me? Thanks.
