why are my incoming text messages truncated to the first letter?

Incoming text messages in a conversation only show up as the first letter of the reply, on my iPhone 13 Pro Max

Lost the ability in Messages to reply to a specific text message In the Messages app on iPhone, if you touch and hold a specific text, you can reply directly to it. I've done this lots of times. But all of a sudden, it doesn't work on my phone. When I touch and hold, the options I get are: Copy Translate Speak More No sign of the Reply option. Any thoughts? after upgrade to ios 17.6.1 i can’t send text messages more than 75 characters I can’t send text messages more than 50 characters or when i’m at the 4th line on my draft messages.. can anyone help? 😭
