Signing In to Itunes on Mac is impossible

Itunes is driving me nuts.... it insists on making me sign in just to manage music and I certainly don't want to buy anything. I KNOW my apple password - it's howI'm here. But iTunes simply will not accept it... Round and round we go. Cancel does not work.... round and round

Nuts! Help.
