iPhone SIM cards

My friend and I had a little argument about SIM cars in iPhones. She said SIM cards were never changeable until older models came out. I said SIM cards were always changeable yourself until the latest model that does not have a SIM tray. She swears that old iPhones never had SIM trays. Who is correct?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 17

You are.

All iPhones since the very first iPhone in 2007 until the iPhone 13 have had sim trays with interchangeable sim cards.

The first iPhone was only usable with AT&T, but you could insert different AT&T sims.

The US sold iPhone 14 and 15 models lack a sim tray. But eSims can still be changed and replaced as long as the iPhone is unlocked.

iPhone 14 and 15 models sold outside of the US do still have a sim tray.
