Apple's new product roll out promotional materials for this keyboard all claim that it is lighter than its predecessors but there are no technical specifications provided on the Apple Web Site.

The weight of the new Magic Keyboard 13 inch 2024 version is 662 grams vs the older Magic Keyboard 12.9 inch that measures in at 693 grams. The new 2024 magic keyboard is 31 grams lighter. The total combination for 2024 of a 13 inch IPad and a keyboard is 1.24 kg vs 1.37 kg for the older M2 2022 version.

Am hoping to get some sort of precise, "official" weight so I can determine the full weight of the iPad (0.98 lb) with the keyboard. Would be interested in acquiring it only if its weight is substantially less than a 2022 MB Air (2.7 lbs)
You are right.
But, the situation is wrong.....IMO, Apple should be providing that information without our needing to ask for it or relying on someone else to make it known.
I asked Apple Support and they said “about 710 grams” (1.57 pounds). That makes them sound unsure of the exact figure so I don’t know where they came up with that number. FWIW I got transferred twice in order to get this answer, so not even everyone working in the customer facing side knows where to get the answer for this. I guess I’ll have to bring a scale with me to the store next week 😂.

The Apple keyboard for the iPad Pro 12.9 M1 model is 1.56 lbs, I just weighed it on a digital postal scale. The iPad Pro with the keyboard is 3.07 lbs. I am guessing the weight of the new keyboard will be lighter than 1.56 lbs.
Logitech much harder to balance on your lap when using.
That sounds like the weight of the old version (707 grams)
For what size of iPad? 12.9" or 11"?
Apple has not specified the weight in their documentation for the keyboard, but the old one for the 12.9" iPad was around 2.5 pounds so I expect the new one to be less than that.
Obviously the keyboard for the smaller 11" iPad Pro would weigh even less than that still.
So around 2 pounds probably.
