What is the weight of the 2024 magic keyboard pro?

The weight of the new Magic Keyboard 13 inch 2024 version is 662 grams vs the older Magic Keyboard 12.9 inch that measures in at 693 grams. The new 2024 magic keyboard is 31 grams lighter. The total combination for 2024 of a 13 inch IPad and a keyboard is 1.24 kg vs 1.37 kg for the older M2 2022 version.

The M4 11" keyboard is 581 grams/ 1.28 lbs. The iPad M4 11" iPad is .97 lbs so you have a setup that is a whopping 1.3 lbs! For comparison my MacBook Pro is 1799 grams/3.69 or 4.0 lbs. This brick of a keyboard is fine if you use your iPad only on a desktop table but is useless if sitting on a couch or in bed. The only other option right now is a thin tri-fold cover with no keyboard. I regret updating my Apple devices each time I do it now. I regret every iPhone upgrade. Now I regret my iPad upgrade. There is little to no change in the iPad experience. There is a huge notable difference in my lack of ability to buy the previous generation thinner cloth like keyboard which Apple now discontinued. 299 for this brick of a keyboard. If you use your iPad on the couch, in a chair or in bed, I don't recommend this 1.3 lb keyboard. It is a brick.

For what size of iPad? 12.9" or 11"?

Apple has not specified the weight in their documentation for the keyboard, but the old one for the 12.9" iPad was around 2.5 pounds so I expect the new one to be less than that.

Obviously the keyboard for the smaller 11" iPad Pro would weigh even less than that still.

So around 2 pounds probably.

I asked Apple Support and they said “about 710 grams” (1.57 pounds). That makes them sound unsure of the exact figure so I don’t know where they came up with that number. FWIW I got transferred twice in order to get this answer, so not even everyone working in the customer facing side knows where to get the answer for this. I guess I’ll have to bring a scale with me to the store next week 😂.

Without any official info from Apple, only until someone gets the keyboard in hand will we know its actual weight.

The Apple keyboard for the iPad Pro 12.9 M1 model is 1.56 lbs, I just weighed it on a digital postal scale. The iPad Pro with the keyboard is 3.07 lbs. I am guessing the weight of the new keyboard will be lighter than 1.56 lbs.

That sounds like the weight of the old version (707 grams)
