My Macbook Pro A1708 has a black screen when it starts up, so I attached it to an external monitor. Now when it starts up, it goes to a full screen image of a world map in Turkish language. I have tried all the keystrokes I know of for diagnostic mode, recovery mode, reset, etc., and it always goes to the world map. with no way to log in. Any advice appreciated.

Thank you Grant Bennet-Alder! The Command-BrightnessDown command worked and added the logon screen on top of the map on the external device. The Macbook screen is still black, so I am assuming it is bad. Your advice is a blessing, as I have been working on this for hours! Thank you.

to toggle the sense of [√] Mirror displays
This should give you the login screen on BOTH displays, not just the World Map wallpaper background on the secondary display.
