Is it possible to wipe an iPad with a nonfunctioning touch screen?

My iPad is dead. Touch screen is history. Confirmed at Genius Bar today. Should have asked then but didn't -- is there any way to wipe an iPad with an unresponsive touch screen (say when connected to iTunes) before returning it for recycling?
