would you buy an Apple 27' TB display (A1407) or cheap new 4K LG ?

Hello folks !

What's your opinion:

to connect a macbook pro 14' (M2 pro), you'd rather spend €400 on

- a second-hand Apple Thunderbolt display 27' (A1407)

-> will also let you use your old firewire or usb-A devices

-> look is still pretty nice, despite designed in 2011

-> has probably been in use for more than 10 years (who knows how long this devices will last before encounter the first problems?)

-> only 2560x1440 (QHD) 110 ppi (not retina)

-> need to buy adapters TB2 <-> 3

-> some issues reported with M1 devices but solved by using the thunderbolt port (not the built in thunderbolt cable)

- a brand-new, inexpensive LG 27' screen, with usb-C, e.g. LG 27UP85NP-W,

-> usb-C, 90 W, will charge also your laptop

-> 1-year warranty (but may not last more than 10 years either ?)

-> 4K

thanks for your opinion / experiences !

It is a tradeoff. I have a 27" TB display that has a good picture and the resolution is in sync with the Apple format. I also have two 5K 27" displays (LG and Apple) that have a much brighter picture and of course are sharper than the TB display. That being said the brightness of the 5K display was the over whelming factor (vs resolution) that makes me always use the 5K displays. The TB display also has nice speakers and a camera built in. I had an LG 4K display but returned it because the brightness was not up to what I wanted. You will have to be the judge. Look on YouTube for some tests.
