How do I turn OFF Apple Music streaming and just access my music library in the Music app on my iMac?

The streaming component of "Apple Music" seems to override what was once a simple way to access and organize my music library. The "Music" app on my desktop is now a source of frustration.

I am constantly routed into the streaming site when all I want to do is add some songs to my iPhone. It's awful.

One problem is that the music app and the "Apple Music" streaming service have the same name, so how do I keep them separate?

Is there a solution to this?

Or, is there a way to download an older version of the Music app?

Please help!

Not sure what issue you are having.

The Apple music subscription service lives inside the Apple Music App. There is no version of the music app without access to the Apple Music subscription service.

However, to add music to your iPhone you don't use the Music App at all.

You have to use the Finder to sync songs to the iPhone connected over USB to the Mac.

Make sure, as intuitive as it may sound, that the "Sync Library" setting is not checked in the Apple Music app Settings under General and the same same setting is turned off on the iPhone in Settings ➜ Music.
