Apple Homepod mini keeps disconnecting

I have the latest £1200 iphone 15 pro max. 300mbps internet, a 20W power adapter, A £2300 mac studio. and yet my £99 homepod refuses to give a stable connection and keeps disconnecting. its on the right band, its within 1m of my router, there are no faults in my setup at all and it just refuses to work quickly and reliably. it takes 5 seconds to respond and it just sucks in general.
