I migrated from an old mac to new one via the migration assistant. It completed successfully. I ma unable to fully boot up the new mac after that.
During the boot up sequence, it asks for a password to unlock the disk and when I enter my old password, it goes back to booting up. It is stuck in this endless loop.

You need to enter the password you used to encrypt the disk on the NEW computer. Nothing else will suffice. That might be the login password you created when your new Mac was first set up.

have you tried the password to unlock the OLD computer's disk?
Thanks. I am doing that and I know the password. It accepts it and then goes back and restarts and comes back to the same prompt.
Yes. They are the same in my case. It does accept the password. If I deliberately enter a wrong one it rejects it right t away. Do I know that the password I am entering is correct.
