The reply was Tested on 1 M1 Desktop, 1 M2 Desktop and 1 M3 Laptop computers.

All of which are running Sonoma 14.5 and using the Apple email client Mail

Using the previous method does work as expected and design.

Suggest using a Different mouse and test again .

Should none of the above be to the user's liking

Then have a few suggestions ;

Start now and open an Apple Support Ticket as they are PAID  Apple Employees to deal will these types of issues . 

 Product Feedback - Apple and make it known to Apple regarding this ongoing issue

Email will not move from inBox to Where ?

Control click the e-mail

A Sub Menu should appear

Choose >> Move to

Choose >> Copy to

In both cases, you need to choose and proper destination

Follow on and important detail

Who is your email account with ?

Do they us POP Protocol ?

Do they use IMAP Protocol ?

Or to they use a unique Hybrid POP / IMAP Protocol like Google Mail Services ?
