I installed it today but am worried as I realised it’s not been updated for many years. I have uninstalled it straight away but don’t want to worry about getting a virus on my iPad. Is that possible?

The installation of that app is NOT going to get a virus on your iPad. The developer of that app has not updated it in over 3 years. It is probably outdated for your iPad and that’s about it. Delete it if you want and nothing to worry about.

It is not possible for iPads to get viruses. Apple dopes not allow harmful or otherwise unsafe apps in their Apple Store. Apple verifies all apps submitted, and they must comply with their standards and specifications.
Just because it has not been updated in a while does not mean its harmful in any way.
