A series of three texts were sent to me from a known person (iPhone to iPhone using Messages for iPhone)
That person did not send the texts
The texts sounded very much so like the person they were supposedly sent from - no odd spellings or weird phrases that sounded crudely translated
My question is, if that sender didn't send the texts, who did, and how?

Anyone that has their Apple ID Password can send a text to you that will show as that person on your device. Also if they share their Apple ID with another user or entered their Apple ID on another persons phone. I would suggest that person should change their password.

We both changed our passwords right away
He had changed his in Sept 2023 and we are puzzled how they might have gotten his password in the first place
Hoping that it doesn't happen again...caused a TON of confusion and not a few tears on my end
