Erasing a MAcbook Pro with High Sierrra

I read the support documentation and launched the Disk Utility, Selected the hard drive and chose the Macintosh HD and Format Drop Down format APFS as recommended on the Apple Support article. It said it was Done. However now there is another drive listed under External called Container Disk 20. Is the HD erased and is this only a temp file that will disappear when I try to restart?

Update - I have restarted and get a light screen with a circle with a line in it. I'm guessing this means it doesnt have the operating system restored. However, could someone plug the HD in to another device and remove that Container described above??
